If you’re considering getting a proper display to get your gaming on, you’re probably looking at response time above all else. There’s certainly good reason for that, but it's important to realize that faster does not always mean better…
IT marketing departments tend to like numbers and there are few areas where this is more visible than in the world of computer monitors. If you step into any sizeable electronics retailer, you’d be forgiven for thinking all screens are identical, with practically every single one claiming a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 250 to 300 nits of brightness and either a 1, 2 or 5ms response time. And, of course, viewing angles are in all cases either 170/160 degrees, or 178/178 degrees. Are computer screens truly that similar? Of course not, but marketers would like you to believe they are, it seems.

Review Of The Corsair K-Series Gaming Keyboard
I’ve been involved in competitive typing for over 8 years (the last 6 years on typeracer.com), and although I’ve seen countless discussions on our blog and forums about the importance of using a quality keyboard, I was still using my laptop keyboard almost exclusively until now. I’m happy that I can finally offer my view on this topic (which is, basically, yes, absolutely you will type faster on a mechanical keyboard!), as well as share a my review of the keyboard I recently purchased: a Corsair K65 RGB LED Mechanical Gaming Speedtyping Keyboard (it’s marketed as a “gaming” keyboard, but as far as I’m concerned, this slick machine was made for speed typing)!

An introduction to Cherry MX mechanical switches
Mechanical keyboards are defined by their switches. In the Filco Majestouch-2 and many others, it is Cherry MX switches that are used. In this article, we’ll look at the many different kinds of Cherry switches on the market and see how they compare to one another.
A potted history of Cherry
Cherry Corporation was founded in the United States in 1953 and started producing keyboards in 1967, making them the oldest keyboard manufacturer in the world that’s still in business. The company was moved to Germany in 1967 and bought by ZF Friedrichshafen AG in 2008, but keyboards and mechanical switches are still produced under the Cherry brand.

BenQ has built a reputation as a brand for great gaming monitors and it was a pioneer of 120Hz gaming, so it makes sense that it’s represented by not one but two screens in this test. The first one is the eminently affordable RL2455HM, a 24-inch TN screen that is significantly cheaper than most other contenders in this test – only Iiyama's E2473HS is cheaper. The reason is that this screen is only capable of a 60Hz refresh rate at 1080p, and the only way it can deliver its promised 1ms response time is by the powers of marketing and excessive overdrive technology.

Gifts For Senior Citizens – Part 2
This is the second in my postings of items that will make good gifts for the senior citizens in your life who are active computer and iPad users. The first was posted yesterday, December 4th.
Satechi’s Flexible LED Desk Lamp
The second item that I recommend is again by Satechi. It is the Flexible LED Desk Lamp. Research has proven that by age 60 years you need about three times as much light on an object to see it as well as the average 20-year old does. That old table lamp that someone is using out of habit really doesn’t cut it for those of us over 60.
